You may not realise it but your eyebrows really do have the power to change your look. Have you ever noticed how eyes look downturned when brows are shaped that way? This can often really age your face as it can make your upper lid look much larger than your bottom lid. As we age, the skin on our upper lids looks larger anyway, it doesn't need any encouragement! Yet a great shaped brow has the power to give a subtle and effective eye lift - giving your eyes a fuller, more natural look.
Like a frame gives a picture definition, your brows frame your face.
Well shaped, groomed brows open up your face giving eyes the illusion of being bigger and more defined.
The brow draws attention to your eyes, bringing out bone structure which opens up the face. Fuller more natural brows gives you a more youthful expression, so its a key step in your makeup regime.
Styles change! I have lived through many trends, some are too ridiculous for words! The new big thing is the slug brow, why ohh why? I say with my hand firmly held on my head in despair?!
I don’t know about you but I often have to do a double take, wondering what they were thinking and why anyone should feel that’s a good look?
Much to my daughters dismay, sometimes I can’t control my facial expressions and apparently I give that - head on one side in disbelief look - when meeting her friends that clearly feel extremely proud of their painted on Groucho look!
However, I can’t pontificate too much as was I was that soldier.
I blame ‘Jackie Magazine’ for a whole generation of women my age having plucked their brows to extinction, some never to return - leaving us with a legacy of patchy bald brows. If you were there in the 70’s chances are you know exactly what I’m talking about.
As the song by the Kinks went circa 1973 - ‘She’s a dedicated follower of fashion..’
If you weren’t there, use our folly as a testament to never do it to yourself!
So let’s get real about brows.
Getting the shape, colour and definition is one of the most difficult things to master. I’m here to show you how.
Like all things that work, it’s easy when you know how and I have dedicated a whole course on this key skill.
Yes it is that important.
Get this right, you will change your whole look - and it’s so easy, I promise you can do this!
I developed my pencil test as a simple guide to show where the brow should start, the arch should start and the tail should finish.
Many of my 121 clients think I’ve lost the plot when I give them back their brows.
I can see them sideling towards the door ready to run for the hills!
Thankfully I pull them back and they all are amazed at the immediate youthful look that just that one change makes.
The main mistake is made where the brow starts - even after having brows done by beauty therapists, sadly so many miss plonk, leaving my women with a permanently shocked look.
To say I get angry on their behalf is an understatement.
Understanding the correct shape for your brows is easy using my technique, we must take control and be precious about who shapes them and how they do it.
So, take control and if at all possible - pain aside - do your own.
You’ll save fortunes and get the best results!
Never despair about the shape or condition of your brows, there’s a solution to every dilemma, from brows that seem to grow overnight, you know the ONE that is thicker and more unruly, menopause and hormonal surges create the weirdest hair growth.
To the lack of shape, the white brows or the patchy brows - I have a technique for them all!
Some of us get more hair on our chin than on our brows - Ain’t mother nature a bitch. Speaking as one who knows - I have a lovely pigs tail curl that pops out unexpectedly and without invitation. My magnifying mirror is my best friend to detect the little bugger! And I swiftly exterminate it.
However I know it’s just biding it’s time and will return.
It’s is a blight on woman kind but we have faced worse stuff. We hold the tweezers at the end of the day …
